A Day of Fencing:
Activities

Dance
Lady Belle will lead us in period dances after court. More information soon.

Fighting
This will be a team rapier event with treasure maps, hidden booty, ransoming, raiding and much fighting. Lyulf McDougal, Thug Boss, has created this scenario and has plotted out much fun. Be sure to attend the fighters' instructional session at 10 am, location to be determined that day.

There are four ships docked at the harbor during this Day of Fencing. Listed below are their names and their captains. These are the only teams that will have relatively safe locations to store booty and captives waiting random, in that there are rules about who can and cannot board a ship.

The Liberty – captained by Herr Ambrose von Pasau.

The Golden Hind – captained by Dona Margalit Medicus (although at this time, it is quite possible she and her crew may abandon the Hind for the delights of another ship.)

The Bachelor's Delight – unclaimed

The Flying Dragon – unclaimed

Email Sorcha at jonya@jonya.com or 507-251-8502 or call Lyulf at 507-202-4900 (no calls after 9 pm) to become a ship's captain. Captains must recruit their own crew of four additional fighters. As fighting cannot happen without a marshal being present, it would be good for any team to contain a marshal. If you have a marshal, you can have a total of six on your team with the understanding that only five will fight. If there are marshals on both teams, some one marshal must stand out but it can be one from either team.

Any other team or individual who comes, blade in hand, to fight and defend will be considered a mercenary, a blade for hire to the highest bidder. There is no need to pre-sign up to be part of a mercenary team or to register a mercenary team but the autocrat will be very pleased to have a quick email sent to her, at jonya@jonya.com , so she can keep her lists straight. And can perhaps arrange to make said mercenary team to be useful...for the right price.

There are war points! Ransoming of hostages is profitable. Our noble and lovely Queen Mary, for example, is worth 200 points. Although she will not be wielding her own blade, unlike Her Royal Highness, attempting to capture her will at the very least provide good, fun fighting to the scalawags who attempt this ruthless act. Princess Aesa is worth war points as is Her Lord and Our Prince, the other fighters are worth war points, even the participants walking about the grounds and the staff running the event are worth war points. Everyone willing to take part in the game will wear mardi gras beads and will be given their first bag of coins to help the game along. Vital people, such as our Tavern Keeper, are off limits unless they choose to wear the beads.

War points are also tied up in stealing treasury from the church, from tracking down treasure from the treasure map, and from looting. There may be more ways to earn war points...be sure and attend the opening ceremonies at 10 am.

Other Activities
There is plenty of room in the Plummer House and the grounds for walking, chatting, and for doing handcrafts. Tables are available for eating and game-playing. There is room for more active games such as kubb outside in the gardens, but please remember that this is a wide-playing game of rapier fighting, all day, everywhere. And while taking a kubb player for ransom is worth war points, annoying the other players and causing a spontaneous fight to break out is...pricelessly good fun.
